Jessica & Wyatt : Engaged

December 19, 2011

This is a very special session below. Jessica & Wyatt are from Springfield, MO. The cutest town. Filled with the most adorable vintage shops and yummy cupcake and coffee shops. Old buildings and beautiful farm land. Their new home, a precious yellow farm house with a beautiful big porch was perfect for a good country rocking chair. I can just imagine them sitting, drinking lemonade on a hot summer day, looking out at their amazing farm land view. Wyatt is a country boy, to no end. Cowboy boots and all, along with a little twang in his accent and that classic southern charm, it completes the vision of country living. Jessica, my beautiful cousin is one of the sweetest women you will ever met. Genuine, smart, real. She is truly going to be the ideal wife. As I was snapping shots of these two this past weekend, I couldn’t help but think of the ‘L’ word.  I have always known the word. But only in the way that a child perceives words before the ability to read. Seeing the letters. But being just jumbled symbols on a piece of paper. Only until after photographing couples did I fully understand the word. I had just set Jessica and Wyatt up for a shot.  I was changing my settings to balance my camera when I just happen to look up and see that Wyatt had wrapped is arms around Jessica and pulled her closer as if to keep her close. Then he leaned in even closer and whispered something that made her melt. She didn’t giggle. She didn’t smirk. She just snuggled into his embrace. At that very moment I oh so subtly snapped the shot. I don’t know what he said. Maybe it was the ‘L’ word. Maybe it was much more. What was said was of no importance. What is important is that it was ever said at all…

The Lovely Jessica and I in the image below. I’m so grateful to have such wonderful people in my family:) Jessica, I had such an amazing time with you and Wyatt during your session.
You two are so sweet together, Wyatt is going to make the perfect addition to our family. I can’t wait for your wedding, you are going to make such a beautiful bride:) Because you are such a beautiful girl. Inside and out.

xoxo Cami

Happy 30th Anniversary!

December 7, 2011
Happy 30th Wedding Anniversary to the most wonderful parents in the world!:) Mine. You two have molded me into someone I can easily say am proud to be. You are such great teachers and forgivers and you have filled my life with more love and happiness than I could have ever imagined. I miss lying around eating ice cream in bed with you two and watching movies all night:) I miss dad trying to embar…ase me at every turn! Haha, honestly I enjoyed it. And mom, you always stating the obvious “Jay! Quit your embarrassing her” which only made me embarrassed:P I miss our karaoke nights when we would sing our favorite songs like Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey. I miss collecting my frogs, mom you always helped me find the best ones:) I miss the days when I would wear my little tool belt dad got me, so I would feel so official helping him build and create things. And mom, you have encouraged my creativity since I can remember, I love you so much for that. The trials that we have endured together have only made us stronger and wiser, making you better parents than any. I am so excited for your 30th year anniversary. You have been the greatest teachers to me in how a marriage should work, and have left me with such an amazing example to follow. I love you both to the bottom of my heart:) Happy 30th.

Jessica & Mike : Engaged

December 7, 2011

This was by far one of my favorite engagement sessions of the year:) This couple was so sweet, and so perfect for one another! As you can tell they are so unique and creative.

As far as there relationship goes, they have been in love for almost 5 years! As we were talking she mentioned to me that she wanted to convey  an “AT LAST” type of moment with in the photographs. I must say, with every image I captured of them, I could feel it.

As Eta James would say…

“At last my love has come along. My lonely days are over and life is like a song
Oh yeah yeah, at last the skies above are blue, my heart was wrapped up in clover, the night I looked at you
And I found a dream that I could speak to, a dream that I can call my own. I found a thrill to press my cheek toA thrill that I have never known
Oh yeah yeah, and you smile, you smile. Oh, and then the spell was cast and here we are in heaven, for you are mine at last”

Share your “AT LAST” moments…I would love to hear them! When did you know he was the one for you? 🙂

Kortni & Kane

December 7, 2011

One of Miss Kortni’s Favorite Quotes: “People are often unreasonable, ill-logical and self- centered; Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway. That you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; Give the world the best you’ve got anyway”

Love these words.

Ziplock Baggies & California

December 6, 2011

Tomorrow Gordon and I are on our way to LA, Cali for the first time together…and well, I’m EXCITED. Have you ever been so excited for a trip that you literally start packing a week in advance…well that was me last week. Me, being the nerdy wife that packs our bags so far in advance that we live out of a suit case a week before we even leaving for our trip, because I don’t want to forget our toothbrushes. I even started categorizing my outfits and fitting them into ziplock bags. Yes, I said ziplocks….I know, I’m so tiny that I can fit an entire outfit into a ziplock. accessories and all! I’m pathetic I know, Haha. Gordon tends to remind me when he can’t seem to find his belt in the morning and I have to pull out my ziplock  baggie that is already packed in his suitcase, unzip it, and hand it his way. Of course, as you all know, my camera will be attached to my face for the entire trip:P I can’t wait to share our adventure to the west with you all!

My knapsack for on the plane:)

Seafoam Green Urbanears head phones
Vintage Kodak Duaflex II Camera
Doodle ‘Next Great Idea’ notebook
Book: The secret Garden written by Frances Hodgson Burnett
Book: Survivor written by Chuck Palahniuk
Magazine: NYLON featuring Rachel Bilson…love her:D

Hope that will be enough to keep me busy for our 4 hour flight.

Leave me tips on things to do in Cali or just say hello if you like:D

Tumbleweeds & Cold Cows

December 6, 2011

I started off my day in bed. Not wanting to get out, because in St. Louis today it was a whopping 36 degrees, and flurries were falling. Even the cows looked cold. I believe it is officially winter, and it makes me… overjoyed! This time of year I love to re-evaluate my business and the goals I’ve set for myself. I love having time for family, hot coco and time in front of the fireplace cuddling up with Moose. Although, right now he is shedding miniature Moose’s all through out the house… I like to call them tumbleweeds. Anyways, back to the winter excitement. Hot coco, cuddling, snow men and of course the best part of winter, the candy cane flavored ice cream…and gaining 5lbs that I get to hide under my over sized sweaters and cute coats until I realize I can’t hide it under my sea-foam green bikini come May.

Enjoy the snowflakes.
